Learn to play with your camera. Change the settings and exposure ratios. A lot of people seem to think that Macro photography is bug photography. This is so far from the truth. You can shoot anything with a macro lens. I have shot everything from a syringe to bugs, to flowers. It is so amazing to see everyday things magnified, and the detail it brings. Drops of water show incredible refractions when you get up close to them.
