HOW TO SHOOT MACRO PHOTOGRAPHY

Step 4 - Depth of Field
This is most evident in macro shooting. I get A LOT of comments on my pictures that say something about the focus. Because most of my macro work is bugs, often I am trying to get something specific in focus, and want it to stand out, and leave the rest a bit out of focus (OOF) This is achieved by playing with the exposure settings. If you shoot with a high appature, like f 2.8, you are going to get the closest focus point in focus, and everything else will be greatly out of focus. If you decrease the appature, like to f/10, the more the backround comes into focus. It is all a matter of personal preference, but this is something you need to play with. There is no need, when shooting a flying bee, for the tree branches in the backround to be tack sharp in focus.
