Step 3 - Adding the final touches
Create a new layer (ctrl+shift+n) and then draw a box over the bottom half of your picture using the selection tool:
(This is the selection tool:)


Ok, keeping that selection still on make your first colour white and go to the gradient tool. (To find this hold your click over the paint bucket tool and it appears to the right)

Now go to the top of your screen and click the little arrow next to the small gradient box and choose this gradient



Now drag your gradient across your selection and wallaaaaa...

You'll have something like this :
