Step 3 - Aperture
This is the opening in the lens that opens up when you press the button to actually let the light in. The setting for this is called an f-stop. Logically, if the opening is bigger, more light will get in and less if it is smaller. Here is a point that confuses many people. When talking about aperture, a smaller number, or f-stop, means a larger opening, and more light. Bigger number means a smaller opening. So, for example if you set the aperture to f2.8, this is a very large opening, and lots of light will get in. And a setting of say, f16, is a very small hole. The aperture setting will also affect the depth of field, which we will discuss in a moment.
