Step 6 - Conclusion
The best way to understand these things is to just try them out. Take a photo of something then change a setting (take one thing at a time) and take another. See what it does. Some cameras will be more drastic than others (like a DSLR vs. a P & S) , but you still should see it. Learn your camera and what it can and will do. So that’s kind of it, in a nutshell. Hopefully you will find it a little helpful. At least the next time you get a comment on a photo and they tell you that maybe if you used a little quicker shutter speed, or a smaller aperture, your highlights wouldn’t be blown out, now you’ll know why!
